These pens allow me to circle, underline, and mark in creative ways while still allowing me to make notes in the margins (have you ever tried to write notes with a felt tip highlighter, even if you write with the corner of the tip notes get sloppy). Furthermore, the ink doesn't bleed through the page, which is helpful when making markings on both sides of a page.

They're perfect for underlining passages in various textbooks and novels with a smooth, continuous line, without having the ink bleed through to the next page, or having the point rip through the paper. Whenever I find them I stock up, because I end up using them every day for classwork.
